Cesafinews | Cadiz City’s grant program will grow by adding its own college | BACOLOD CITY – The northern Negros Occidental city of Cadiz plans to continue its support for scholarship programs by establishing its own university.
The Cadiz City Education Assistance Program (CCEAP) has received an annual budget of PHP32 million from the city government for over 20 years.
Approximately 5,000 students attend public and private colleges and universities each year with financial support from the CCEAP.
Our annual CCEAP allocation is more than sufficient to operate a city or community college. According to a statement made by Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. on Tuesday, they are still in the process of finalizing the plan.
Information technology and tourism are two areas that the proposed school is thinking about including in its curriculum.
The CCEAP is different from other scholarship programs in that it is available to all students, regardless of their financial situation.
It doesn’t have anything against average students. The local government will not be picky as long as it is within budget, according to Escalante.
The CCEAP was the mayor’s idea, and it’s based on the experiences of Filipino-Chinese tycoons who were regular students in college.
In the end, they were very successful businesspeople. What the heck? “Some Cadiz students may be average right now, but they have the potential to become top performers in their fields,” Escalante remarked. (via PNA)
